Katana to Shadow Sword — what to buy in the first hour and what to keep after Update 6.5.
Weapons and Devil Fruits fill the gap between “I just spawned” and “I own a named spec.” This list sits under the tier list hub next to the trait ranking and the specs ranking. A TrueAscension pirate with a diamond sword still out-clears a Common StrongBody pirate waving Cid around. Buy steel first. Then buy a spec from the specs hub.
Ranks below mix swords, Black Leg, and Light fruit, because that is how showcases compare kits after Update 6. Numbers still shift. If Update 6 or a later patch retunes a swing, we will move the row instead of pretending the thumbnail is scripture.
S-tier: Shadow Sword with the right trait
Shadow Sword only belongs in S when TrueAscension (or at least ShadowGod) is glued to it. The obtainment loop is on how to get Shadow Sword. Naked, it is a fancy stick. With +750% all stats it sits next to limited Cid Kagenou. If your trait is still Epic BladeMaster, keep rolling; the trait list is the gate.
Cid and Shadow Sword like ShadowGod, SwordKing, and BladeOverlord. The stat planner should dump leftover points into Sword, then Defense. Do not split Melee on a sword account for later Sukuna.
A-tier: Yoru, Light fruit, Minecraft diamond sword
Yoru is the first real sword. Starter Island seller: 100k Zeni, 5 green, 20 red, 10 yellow orbs. The leveling route exists so those colors are not a brick wall. Yoru carries Desert and Minecraft while you decide between Sukuna fingers and Hueco Mundo hairs.
Light fruit is the Devil Fruit that showcases in A. Bomb and Flame exist; Light is the clip. Special traits (LightDevil, Spirit Overdrive, EnergyCore) belong here. If you already own Ichigo Wizard, Light is a parallel special kit, not a Vasto replacement.
Minecraft / diamond sword drops on Minecraft Island. Spawn Steve; diamond sword is about 5%. Chickens are about 10% from zombies and are a side hunt. Crew Steve with PvP off. The sword is A because the drop is cheap next to Vasto’s 10M Zeni, not because it beats Cid.

B-tier: katana after hour one, Black Leg as a melee crutch
Katana is a buy, not a drop. Spend early Zeni on it the moment the getting started guide says fists are done. After the first hour it is B. Keeping it into Jujutsu is how people stall.
Black Leg / Dark Leg is the cheap melee purchase: 30k Zeni, 3 yellow, 10 fire orbs. It sits on the specs ranking as B. Buy it if Yoru’s orb pile is weeks away. Drop it when Sukuna or Cosmic Garou is in reach.
C-tier: starter fists
Fists are C. They are the tutorial. If you are still punching bandits with nothing in the weapon slot, you are behind every pirate who spent codes on a katana. This is the only C on the list on purpose. There is no secret fist tech.
Buy order that actually matches the ranks
- Claim codes and buy the katana.
- Roll at least Epic. Pity is 250 for mythical.
- Farm Yoru or Black Leg. Pick one.
- Clear Minecraft for a diamond sword while you bank Zeni.
- Spend the bank on a named spec: how to get Sukuna, how to get Cid if the window is live, how to get Ichigo, or how to get Cosmic Garou.
- Only then chase Shadow Sword plus TrueAscension.
